[Beware: this is a post asking for money, so if you don’t like it, just skip it.]
The guys from the Denver-based band Thinking Plague are going to record another album and hit the shelves next year, but they need some money for recording and mixing expenses. You can learn the details on their Kickstarter page here.
I am very awkward while talking about music, so if you don’t know about them, you can get acquainted with their style much easier by watching the video here or on the Kickstarter page. In short, they have recorded several albums since the 80s and are well-known among the aficionados of the Canterbury scene, Rock in Opposition, Zeuhl, Krautrock, experimental rock, avant-garde and prog music in general. Some of the members have led or participated in other, no less important or interesting projects. Needless to say, I like their music very much, considering them as one of the greatest musical collective of our time.
As to the name of the band, I didn’t like it until I realized that it is, most probably, an allusion to Blaise Pascal’s words. Man is only a reed, the weakest in nature, he said, but he is a thinking reed. When he wrote this, the human race was truly weak after the long stagnation and repression of the Dark Ages, but now we have to look upon other, not so vegetarian images as to exactly what we are on this planet, if we really want to change.
